Project: Packaging for Krylon Spray Paint
This is class work
In this project, I created a packaging design system for Krylon spray paint. My demographic was sophisticated artists, 20 to 40 years old. The spray paint was meant to be a high quality product in the $8 to12.00 price range.
I was inspired by the aesthetic of custom vinyl artist's toys which tend to a little funky, graphic, colorful and sometimes a little cute. I made each color of paint a character with a distinct personality.
While working on this project, I focused mainly on the color and character design. They needed to convey a distinct personality that matched the paint color and fit nicely around the curve of the spray cans, so expressions and proportions had to be just right. Plus, I wanted the color of the paint to be a dominate part of the design.
"Art Pop" is based off of and for vinyl artist's toys. They are ideal for painting on any plastic and colors are easy to identify.
*The mockups are made with Montana spray paint.
